Why should we share Jesus? Well, first and foremost, God has mandated that we do it! Luke 14:23 says, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Matthew 28:19 tells us to, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” so we are called to be a witness not just here in the United States, but all around the world!
Take a look at the condition of the world, and see it as Jesus did…with eyes of compassion. You can clearly see that people need Jesus. Now more than ever, we are experiencing violent crime, suicide, school shootings, cyberbullying and the like. The movies, music and other media are changing for the worse. But even if there was no crime, we’d all still need Jesus because of our sin nature!
One of the great things about God’s command to witness is that you don’t need any special education or any certain level of spiritual maturity to fulfill it! You can share Jesus whether you’ve been a Christian for 40 years or 40 minutes.
The Share Jesus concept was developed to empower Christians to share their faith. For some people, talking to strangers, or even friends, about Jesus can be scary. Fear of rejection, getting pulled into a debate or saying the wrong thing (among other concerns) are common hindrances to evangelism.
Here are three easy ways to Share Jesus:
1. Tell someone how your relationship with Jesus has changed your life. Everybody has a testimony!
2. Invite someone to Harvest – Tell Somebody Campaign! Our monthly Tell Somebody Campaign goal as a church is to invite 2,015 people to Harvest each month. Please complete the form below to tell us who you invited to church so we can track our progress. You can also turn in your Tell Somebody contacts at Guest and Membership Services in the foyer.
3. Offer to pray with someone to accept Christ. Here is a short prayer you can use:
Lord Jesus, I repent and turn from my sins, and I ask for your forgiveness. I invite you to come into my heart and life. Wash me clean and fill me with your power, and I will trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ Name…Amen.
