A call from God to change lives and impact the world was present in 1995, when Lyle and Deborah Dukes, along with their daughter Brittany, held the first service in Woodbridge, Virginia for the Harvest Life Changers Church. There were no members as they began in a classroom of a local high school.
Harvest has since grown into a vibrant purpose-driven ministry with a vision to save souls and empower people to change through the power of Jesus Christ.
At the heart of this ministry is the essence of “change.” This is not only found in the life of the church, but also with the people who have connected and contributed to its efforts to change lives globally.
Harvest has experienced tremendous growth in ministry and has been blessed with countless opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with millions of people around the globe. Over the past several years, the local church membership has increased to over 8,000.
In 2001, Harvest purchased its current facility on Telegraph Road for five million dollars. This worship center was paid off in three years. We currently have over 100 ministries designed to meet the needs of men, women, children and teens, young adults, seniors, as well as singles and married couples.
Our community outreach efforts include our annual School Supply Drive, Coat Drive, Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless within our community, a Christmas Toy Drive, as well as a vibrant and thriving Prison Ministry.
Additionally, our world outreach efforts include extensive missions work in Africa, Haiti, India and other regions across the globe. Our newly constructed 2,000-seat Harvest Conference Center, located in Nakuru, Kenya, ministers to thousands each week. With our partner, Christian Outreach Ministries of Kenya, the new center serves as a headquarters for counseling, pastoral training, food distribution and quarterly conferences. We also have plans to build a much-needed medical facility in Kenya.
We are currently in full construction of our new state-of-the-art 204,000 square foot worship center featuring a 4,000 seat sanctuary, large parking lots, a chapel, a gymnasium, a food court, a children’s area, classrooms, offices and so much more.
Held first service at Potomac High School in Woodbridge, VA in January. Had Grand Opening on March 26th and the official Pastoral Installation Service was held in July 1995, officiated by Bishop Rufus Hayes. Implemented weekly outreaches to win souls for Christ.
Began television broadcast locally on cable access channels in Prince William County, VA, Fairfax County, VA, and in Washington, D.C. along with commercials inviting the community to our worship services.

Started broadcasting internationally via television on The Inspirational Network (INSP). Hosted the Nation’s Capital’s Commemoration for 9/11 at the Hylton Memorial Chapel – over 7,000 in attendance. Recorded and released first choir CD project for national distribution.

Professional music video began airing on national networks’ gospel video programs. Sent more than $100,000 in assistance to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In 2015 we celebrated 20 years of ministry! This major milestone was commemorated with several events, including a formal banquet and a week-long celebration with themed services, including Celebrating Our Past, Celebrating Our Present and Celebrating Our Future. We are so excited about what God is doing and we know that the best is yet to come!
What’s On The Horizon?
God is preparing us for a greater level as we work with our members, partners and friends of the ministry, to bring the vision of our new worship center into reality.
The new state-of-the-art, 204,000 square foot building features a 4000-seat sanctuary, large parking lots, a chapel, a gymnasium, a food court, a children’s area, classrooms, offices and so much more. New ministry programs, employment opportunities and more are going to be released in the new building — things we’re not able to do in our current building due to limited space!
As we embrace the next set of spiritual objectives, we believe that God will guide us as we continue to seek the Kingdom first (Matthew 6:33).
